Mortimer Brewster, a drama critic known for his bachelorhood, debates whether to get married, while juggling a brother who thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt, another brother, homicidal and on the run, and two aunts, whose secrets prove that insanity runs in the family!

A middle-aged couple and a young couple rent the same Catskills cabin for the weekend by mistake. When they decide to share the space, each couple learns a little bit from the other about what makes relationships work and last.

Elwood P. Dowd is an affable man who claims to have an unseen (and presumably imaginary) friend named Harvey - whom Elwood describes as a six-foot , three-and-one-half-inch tall pooka resembling an anthropomorphic rabbit.
